I. Miami New Drama leads with testing and limited contact between individuals.

  1. A member of Miami New Drama’s staff has been designated as the COVID-19 Health & Safety Manager. This individual will oversee and enforce the safety plan, and ensure safety protocol is adhered to.

  2. Miami New Drama staff and educators will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

  3. Social distancing will be observed by, adhered to, and enforced during performances, classes, rehearsal process in the space(s), hallways, bathrooms, breaks, etc. for all individuals, including, but not limited to, patrons, students, teaching artists, and Miami New Drama staff.

  4. There will be no sharing of objects otherwise instructed by Miami New Drama staff; in which case, Miami New Drama staff will sanitize following CDC guidelines.

  5. If an individual is feeling ill or has a temperature prior to arriving at the theatre, the Health & Safety Manager will direct the individual to return home immediately or stay home to isolate and contact their licensed health care provider for further instructions. Virtual options will be available.

  1. Patrons, students, teachers, and Miami New Drama staff must wear a mask at all times during performances, classes, and rehearsals. Individuals can bring their own mask or a mask will be provided.  Regarding educational programs, in the case of a fully vaccinated class of students, mask usage in small groups will be lifted.

  2. Masks must fully cover the mouth and nose.

  3. Hand sanitizer will be provided.

  4. Proper CDC signage will be placed at entrances and high traffic locations emphasizing safety measures of social distancing and wearing of masks.

III. Symptom Onset

  1. If an actor, student, teaching artist or Miami New Drama staff member tests positive and exhibits symptoms, they must have had 3 days with no fever, no symptoms, and at least 10 days from symptom onset before they can return to the theatre. Tests must come back negative.

  2. If individuals report at least one symptom before or during a performance, workday or schoolday, they must contact the COVID-19 Health & Safety manager who will direct them to stay home or return home immediately to isolate and contact their licensed health care provider for further instructions.

Portions of this plan were developed in consultation with Actors’ Equity Association, Miami-Dade County, and the City of Miami Beach and previously used for the production of 7 Deadly Sins on Lincoln Rd from Nov 2020-Jan 2021.
